Sermon Note Doodle Prophetic?? (& Prayer Request).

I have had the tendency recently to doodle with my sermon notes.  Normally, I try keep the doodle related to the sermon.  The sermon this last Sunday was on the 6th Commandment...Thou Shall not Kill.

So as I am writing the notes and dealing with the slide show...I get the idea of drawing a heart rate line that you see on heart rate monitors.  I even make one that has a cross in the middle.  Also one coming through a wall.  Ok, this is all corny as most doodles are corny.  As I am doing this I am watching a friend of mine at church and seeing if he is paying attention to this sermon.  It talks about things I know he is struggling with.  Anger, hatred and reconciliation.

Well it turns out that this friend.....

had a minor heart attack or something similar to it.  He has a natural genetic defect in his heart that can mess up the electrical signals and start his heart racing.  He had not had this since he was 12 and now a few days after Sunday he is rushed to the emergency room.  I got to visit him today.  When I looked at his heart monitor I remembered what I had drawn.  I was a bit shocked.

I'm not saying I'm prophetic in any way.  I don't think I have that gifting (but I think that gift does exist for the church today).  I'm not sure what to make of it really.  All I know is I was prayin' for my friend on Sunday and prayin' for him today.  I also ask if you could pray for him too.  He may have to get an operation to deal with the heart defect.  Thanks.  God Bless.

Amazing. Sometimes I don't know what things mean, what is from God, what is from me, what is a result of my sin, or what is a result of humanity's sin. But no matter what and why and where things and situations arise, He's on our side. I think God always wants us to know that, and since we're not listening really well sometimes, He needs to shout it out to us. This may be one of those cases. Maybe it would be good to let him know that, that His Spirit knows him and is right by His side in all situations in his life, this tough one as well as other tough ones he's been through in his past and is struggling with. We're continuing to pray for him, even though Kyoung and I are so far away now. Praise God!

@jinillee - hey Jin.   Thank you and Kyoung for your prayers.  Yeah, it is hard to decipher what God is doing at times, but I think he gives signs along the way.  I will share this with him sometime soon.   Thank you for your comment too.  It's great to hear from you.  It's nice that xanga can now post directly to Facebook news feeds.

Wherever the Holy Spirit is there is prophesy.   Prophesy is an attribute of God, and wherever He is all of His attributes are in attendance.   That God's presence brought about a little precognitive bubble isn't at all shocking or unusual.

I cannot count the number of times something of a prophetic nature has happened through me.   It's usually in prayer for me.   When I'm praying for someone I just expect God to take the prayer and lead it where He desires for it to go.  I don't know what people really need when I pray for them, and they often don't either.   Sometimes I pray for what they really need, which isn't their stated need.  I'm no prophet, I'm just open to God getting to the need of another through me.

We have to be in sync with what God wants to do.  All too often we want to take the Holy Spirit and use Him like a "blessing" vending machine.   I don't believe He likes that.  He would prefer we get in line with what He wants.   God wants to work through us, but we want to get in his way, have people call us "The Prophet of God".   When God works with/through us it's just organic; natural.  What He does is supernatural, but He prefers to work it in as natural a way as possible.   At least it just feels natural.   And when God works through us this way, we have no doubt that HE did it, and we had nothing whatsoever to do with producing it.   I like it when God gets to do as He likes, and it's no fuss, and I don't get in the way....*SIGH*  It just takes so long to get me out of the way...

I'll keep your friend and his situation in prayer.
